Romain spent more than a decade in Southeast Asia prior to relocating to Japan in late 2018. He first lived in Myanmar as the country was transitioning away from military rule. He established at the time the Yangon office of leading Southeast Asia-focused corporate advisory firm specializing in government relations, public policy and political risk analysis.
He then moved to Singapore where he joined FTI Consulting’s Forensic Consulting & Litigation segment, leading business intelligence, due diligence and corporate investigation projects across all ten ASEAN countries.
Romain then joined in Singapore a boutique public affairs consultancy and affiliate to FTI Consulting’s Strategic Communications segment. There he oversaw operations and led stakeholder engagement in Singapore, Malaysia and Myanmar; supported campaigns in Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia; and contributed to region-wide business development activities.
Romain holds degrees in the Burmese language and has acted as the President of the French Myanmar Chamber of Commerce. He has provided his insights on Myanmar’s current affairs in leading publications and international news channels.
While studying for a Masters degree in International Affairs at Sciences Po Paris, Romain was also a Parliamentary Assistant in the French Senate as well as an Analyst with the French Embassy in Myanmar, the French Ministry of Defense and the Cambodian Ministry of Justice. He also was an exchange student at the University of Pennsylvania in the United States and at Waseda University in Japan.
