Lisa Dane is a Senior Managing Director and Co-Leader of FTI Consulting’s Global Risk & Investigations Practice and is based out of New York.

Ms. Dane has more than 25 years of experience in the field of conducting large-scale domestic and international fraud investigations, asset tracing, due diligence, business intelligence and litigation support matters for law firms and multi-national organizations worldwide. Her work has included global investigations for governmental agencies regarding fraud, bribery, asset misappropriation and sanctions abuse; locating hidden assets to satisfy judgments in legal matters; FCPA investigations, and deep research into the backgrounds and reputations of entities and key management in sensitive pre-transaction situations.

Ms. Dane has particular expertise in pioneering the use of social media analytics in matters where understanding relationships maintained by individuals on social media platforms, as well as their commentary on certain topics, may be material to a matter. She routinely employs social media analytics in tandem with other investigative tools in the realm of litigation support, fraud investigations, activist matters, due diligence, and asset tracing and recovery.

Ms. Dane works closely with attorneys, forensic accountants, computer forensic experts and other relevant industry specialists. In addition, she has expertise in Financial Services working with M&A, private equity, hedge fund and investment banking professionals on due diligence and business intelligence investigations.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ms. Dane was a director in the Business Intelligence practice of a global accounting firm. During her career, she has worked for the internal investigations group of a large multi-national corporation, as well as other investigative consulting firms.

Ms. Dane has lectured to law firms, bar associations and other organizations on leading practices related to corruption investigations, due diligence and the use of social media analytics tools to gather intelligence. She has authored articles on the use of social media analytics in investigations published in The National Trial Lawyers magazine and the FTI Journal. She has also authored the chapter on conducting background investigations in the book “Forensic Accounting for Dummies,” as well as articles in The Daily Deal, and the American Bar Association’s Business Torts Newsletter.

Ms. Dane received a B.A. in Sociology/Criminology from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) and a Masters in Criminal Justice--Crime in Commerce from George Washington University.
