Kate Warwick is a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting and has over 25 years' experience in the areas of restructuring and turnaround, viability assessment, independent business reviews, business regeneration, operational improvement, M&A, merger integration, credit assessment and management, crisis management, and all forms of strategic advice.

Kate has assisted corporates and associated stakeholders across a range of industries in Australia, Asia and the United Kingdom, with a primary focus on retail and consumer products businesses and additional experience in manufacturing, agribusiness, and mining.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Kate led the Retail and Consumer focus of PwC’s Australian Deals team nationally. Major Retail engagements include:

  • Project Orange - On behalf of the global lender syndicate, managed the independent review of the Asia Pacific segment of this household goods, apparel and discount department store retailer, with 14 brands in Australia/NZ. The Asia Pacific group employs c. 8,500 staff with FY17 revenue of $2B.
  • Australian Office Supplies - Conducted a detailed review of merchandising, supply chain, customer segmentation and businesses focusing on underlying profit improvements for this major stationary business on behalf of Platinum Private Equity.
  • Project Tennis - Kate co-led a joint team of experts engaged by management to identify and implement $100m in annualised cost reductions for this listed apparel and footwear retail group.
  • Project Cheers - Detailed review and opportunity identification in the operational processes driving working capital, identifying circa $100m in working capital improvement opportunities.
  • Project Stream - Kate embedded and oversaw a Chief Restructuring Advisor (“CRA”) to a large, ASX listed, specialty store and online retailer of women’s and men’s fashion. The primary focus was on a recent acquisition which was underperforming and cash flow negative.
  • Project Paris - Kate undertook a review of a fashion retail group with assets in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, US and Hong Kong, focusing on the performance of the group's brands and the impact on working capital management and financing requirements.
  • Project Wedge - Kate was appointed as Restructuring Advisor to a major footwear and apparel retailer with turnover of circa $280m, 2,200 employees, a national network of 260 retail stores and @$100m in secured debt. At the conclusion of the engagement Wedge was cash flow positive and continues to rebuild and implement performance improvement initiatives.
  • Project Spot - Strategic financial review of an Australian fashion retail group with three local brands. The review included store portfolio analysis (stand-alone and concession), identifying under performing stores and brands, along with a view on the immediate cash funding requirements of the business.
  • Project Feather - This strategic review of an iconic Australian retail brand involved review of the business strategy, key operational and financial drivers, working capital and key issues affecting the business, and assessed the financial forecasts and the likely future funding needs of the business
