About John
John Asafu-Adjaye is a Director in the Economic & Financial Consulting practice who has over 25 years experience in providing research and consulting services in Australia, Africa, Asia and the Pacific region to international agencies, major corporates and professional services firms.
John’s areas of expertise include:

John’s previous clients include the Australian Agency for International Development, Danish International Development Agency, Food and Agriculture Organisation, UN Economic Commission for Asia and the Pacific, World Bank, African Development Bank, ExxonMobil, and various consulting firms.
John is currently an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Queensland where he teaches and conducts research in applied economics and natural resource economics.
Some of John’s most significant engagements include work for:
- Analysing the economic benefits of new container terminals in Papua New Guinea (PNG)
- Preparing a submission on taxation policies and reforms for the PNG Taxation Review
- Worked for the World Bank, African Development Bank, and the African Economic Research Consortium on issues related to climate change adaptation and mitigation
- Analysed the economic impacts of the Ok Tedi mine and LNG production in PNG
