Her valuation experience includes inter alia, independent corporate business valuations for transactions and strategic decisions, fairness opinions (for the stock exchange in Johannesburg (JSE Limited)) and fair & reasonable opinions (under the South African Companies Act i.r.o. the Takeover Regulations), audit support valuations for impairment testing (IAS 36), purchase price allocations as required by IFRS 3, valuation inputs into IFRS 2 determinations (i.r.o. share-based payments), valuations i.r.o. During her tenure at Deloitte she contributed significantly to the growth of that division. She also facilitated the growth of the “Fund Valuation” offering and introduced the “Economic obsolescence” offering in that valuation service line.
Some recent valuation assignments undertaken by Helena include Fund valuations for Kagiso Capital; Economic obsolescence for the tangible asset fair valuation of the Transnet Ports Terminals moveable assets for IFRS purposes; Fairness opinions on each of the disposals by Aveng to Kutana Construction of Trident Steel and Grinaker LTA.
