Chris Brookes is a Managing Director in the Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment of FTI Consulting and he is based in Hong Kong. He has over twelve years of experience in corporate advisory, corporate restructuring/recovery and transactional support. His industry experience includes funds, energy (coal, oil and gas), property, forestry and manufacturing.
A key focus of Mr. Brookes’ recent work has been the financial and operational management of distressed businesses. These engagements have required Mr. Brookes to manage the businesses and conduct financial and commercial analysis to develop and implement strategies to enhance value for stakeholders, including negotiating terms of restructuring with key stakeholders. He also has experience managing M&A campaigns for both distressed and healthy businesses.
Mr. Brookes has conducted sell-side financial due diligence for large and complex transactions. In such scenarios, Mr. Brookes has utilized his strong financial and analytical skills coupled with commercial experience to help clients maximize their value realized from these transactions. He regularly undertakes business review assignments, including in relation to the assessment of serviceable debt levels, business viability and strategic options.
Mr. Brookes recent engagements include the liquidation of a Cayman incorporated, Asia-focused hedge fund with funds under management of US $80 million. He has acted as a financial advisor to senior lenders of a listed Canadian oil and gas exploration company with Asian operations to facilitate the restructure of the senior loan facility, as well as for a Canadian oil and gas exploration company to facilitate the restructure of Indonesian exploration operations.
Mr. Brookes also was a restructuring advisor to an Indonesian-listed paper manufacture and HK-listed petrochemical logistics company, specifically involving the preparation of realistion analyses to facilitate the restructures. In addition, Mr. Brookes has served as receivers and managers of a holiday accommodation site and ship yard complex requiring trade-on and conducting sales process.
Mr. Brookes started his career in Melbourne in 2003 and he relocated to Hong Kong in 2012. Prior to FTI Consulting, he was a manager with McGrathNicol in Australia.
