Sergio Díaz, BA-IR, MiM is a Senior Managing Director and leads the FTI Consulting Forensic and Litigation Consulting practice in Mexico City. Mr. Díaz has over 15 years of consulting experience, specializing in business intelligence, corporate investigations, fraud investigations, economic analysis, political and social analysis, security assessments, market research, public opinion research, risk management assessment and strategic planning. Working as analyst and project manager of public and private companies and governments has provided Mr. Díaz a wealth of experience developing new products and service lines as well as helping to resolve complex corporate business issues.

Prior to joining FTI, Mr. Díaz was head of a global risk consulting firm, overseeing large business intelligence, corporate investigation, reputational due diligence and security assessment projects for many of the major national and international companies with operations in Mexico. He assembled and led highly-qualified, multidisciplinary and multicultural teams to better serve clients’ needs. Mr. Díaz’s efforts were directed toward providing clients with information and investigative findings, as well as conclusions, recommendations and analysis to further inform their decision making processes.

Mr. Díaz participated in and managed numerous large-scale fraud investigation cases: he was actively involved in the scoping, the design of methodologies, the preparation and conducting of interviews and the presentation of findings. Additionally, he worked with the clients’ representatives to process the results in cases in which litigations had already begun.

Earlier, Mr. Díaz spent five years working in the public relations, market research and public opinion industries. He worked for national and international firms such as InfoAmericas, ZIMAT, MORI and CEOP. He managed a number of quantitative and qualitative research projects for government and non-government national and international organizations, as well as for large and medium companies in a wide variety of industries including energy, construction, tourism, automotive, advertising, telecommunications, finance and banking services. Prior to his work in the private sector, Mr. Díaz served as an economic analyst for the Mexican Finance Ministry (SHCP). He prepared reports on the macroeconomic conditions of Mexico and other major Latin American economies, as well as helping to calculate forecasts and trend analysis.

Mr. Díaz spent three years teaching monetary theory, INCOTERMS, and US-Mexico Bilateral Relations at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and at the Universidad Intercontinental in Mexico City, as a substitute or assistant teacher to Hayna Lozanne and Jorge Castañeda, former Mexican Minister of Foreign Affairs.
