Ewen Turner is a Director in the Global Risk and Investigations practice of FTI Consulting and is based in Shanghai. Mr. Turner has an ongoing connection with the People’s Republic of China (“PRC”) spanning over 30 years and has had extensive experience in developing and implementing brand protection strategies and in leading and conducting intellectual property-related, corporate and due diligence investigations on the Mainland and across the Asia Pacific region.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, from 2005 to 2013, Mr. Turner was based in Shanghai at the regional headquarters of General Motors (GM) where he was responsible for conducting and coordinating brand protection and compliance-related investigations for GM’s PRC and regional markets as part of its global security team. During that period Mr. Turner was also an active participant in key PRC-based industry associations, as GM’s representative as well as serving as a Vice Chair of the Quality Brand Protection Committee (QBPC), an industry driven body of over 200 multinational companies working with central and local PRC government authorities to promote intellectual property rights in the PRC.
Before joining GM, Mr. Turner was a Managing Director at a global investigation and security consulting company in their Shanghai office and was responsible for overseeing their North PRC Operations. He managed engagements for a large number of multinational clients in a wide range of industries, in particular with regards to the protection and enforcement of their intellectual property rights and brand integrity. Over his career, Mr. Turner has overseen countless investigations and enforcement actions throughout PRC as well as the wider Asia Pacific region.
Mr. Turner earned his Bachelor’s degree in Asian Studies from Monash University in Melbourne, in 1997, in addition to undertaking scholarship studies at Fudan University in Shanghai. Mr. Turner is a native English speaker and is also fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
