We are delighted to announce the appointment of Eddie Lam who has joined the firm’s Forensic Accounting & Advisory Services (FAAS) practice as a Managing Director and is leading the People’s Republic of China (PRC) team from Shanghai where he will be based.

Over the past few years an increase in financial fraud scandals and counter measures put in place by regulators from the US and Europe to the PRC and Hong Kong have led to an increase in demand for our forensic accounting services. Mr. Lam has extensive experience in managing and conducting complex fraud, forensic accounting and anti-corruption investigations across a number of regions including Asia, North America, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. Additionally, Mr. Lam has been heavily involved with the review, assessment and implementation of compliance programmes based on local regulatory requirements and those set-out by international authorities such as the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). His work in helping companies establish and execute proactive compliance measures has helped numerous clients effectively protect their interests, both commercial and legal.

Prior to his appointment at FTI Consulting, Mr. Lam was a Director of Compliance and Forensic Audit for East Asia Pacific at Siemens. In this role, he managed various compliance-related projects — such as anti-corruption assessments, fraud detection, export controls compliance and occupational safety reviews — and led forensic accounting investigations throughout the region in accordance with the relevant jurisdictional regulatory and legal requirements. While at Siemens, Mr. Lam spearheaded a global compliance initiative to systematically audit external third parties to ensure they were adhering to relevant rules and regulations as well as Siemens contractual standards.

“I am excited to welcome Eddie to the team and confident that he will be able to leverage his extensive forensic accounting and financial fraud expertise to further strengthen and entrench our offering the market,” said Rod Sutton, Chairman of the Asia Pacific region at FTI Consulting. “Indeed, Eddie will play a critical role in assisting our PRC-clients with complex financial and fraud investigations, providing them with effective solutions for their compliance and anti-corruption needs.”

From 1997-2011, Mr. Lam was at Big Four accounting firms PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and KPMG in New York as a Director in the Forensic Services practice and Manager in the Assurance practice, respectively. During this period he worked on various anti-corruption, compliance and forensic accounting related investigations with clients from a range of industries including food services, manufacturing and distribution, medical devices, oil & gas services, and telecommunications.

A Certified Practicing Accountant in the state of New York, Mr. Lam has a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations, with Minors in Economics and Japanese from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance and Accounting from New York University.
