FTI Consulting Appoints Former Royal Dutch Shell Vice President Nick Wood
FTI Consulting is pleased to announce the appointment of Nick Wood as a Managing Director in the Company’s Strategic Communications segment. In his new role, Mr. Wood will serve as a senior member of the segment’s Corporate Communications and Public Affairs practices. He will be based in Singapore.
Mr. Wood brings more than 30 years of communications experience in reputation management, government and regulatory affairs, media relations, stakeholder engagement, crisis and issues management, corporate social responsibility (“CSR”), and sustainability program development and execution to FTI Consulting. He joins the firm following more than 20 years with Royal Dutch Shell where he most recently served as Vice President of Communications in the Company’s global Exploration and Production business.
“The addition of Nick to our global leadership team further enhances our ability to counsel clients at the intersection of commercial and public interests globally, and particularly in Asia Pacific,” said Edward J. Reilly, Global Chief Executive Officer of the Strategic Communications segment at FTI Consulting. “Our clients will undoubtedly benefit from his three decades of experience managing reputations and advancing business interests in highly regulated and highly scrutinized environments.”
Mr. Wood led communications and CSR for Royal Dutch Shell’s global Exploration and Production business, while at the same time leading approximately 200 communications professionals in cross-business teams in Asia Pacific, Africa, the Middle East, central Asia and Russia. During that time, he was closely involved in managing strategic communications for the Shell Group, including several sensitive projects and operations around the world. Before that time, he was the Communications Director for Shell in China where he managed the organisation’s reputation, public affairs, communications and CSR programs during the development of complex multi-billion dollar projects located in challenging regulatory environments.
“I am excited to be working within FTI Consulting’s international network to build reputations, manage risks and add business value amid increasingly complex and sensitive operating environments,” said Mr. Wood. “What I have learned over many years working in North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Australia, is that managing reputation requires sophisticated stakeholder engagement that demonstrates an understanding of local and national issues, while maintaining transparency and accountability.”
